Why can emery be used as an abrasive?

Emery as an abrasive should have the following properties:
1. The hardness is higher than that of the machined part, and the hardness of the abrasive is higher than that of the machined part. Otherwise, no matter how strong the grinding force is, it will not be able to grind debris from the machined part, and if the hardness is not enough, its wear resistance will not be good. Go there.
2. The particle size and shape should be uniform to ensure the uniformity of the emery particle size and shape, so that the force received by different abrasive grains under the action of the impact force is equally uniform and will not cause scratches to the machined parts. At the same time, the uniformity of particle size and shape also ensures the grinding ability to a large extent.
3. The toughness should have a degree. Emery has a certain toughness, which will greatly reduce its crushing during use, and the toughness energy is not so large, which is also conducive to the crushing of the abrasive to re-form the cut surface and continue to grind. In short, this toughness is maintained. The degree that the edges and corners just have no grinding ability and need to be crushed to form new edges and corners is of course good.
